First of all let me just say that there is no reason to go on an expensive first date. There are a lot of great inexpensive ideas for a date in the where to go on a first date section. Not because I’m cheap - but because the quality of the date isn’t affected by the price of the food or drinks. So if you think you’re going to impress your date with a fancy meal - forget it ! If you don’t cut it then that won’t do the trick and the date will just be happy she got to eat for free.

Why?
Because that shows “alpha male” qualities (provider, protector, gentleman etc.) and that’s something we want to communicate.

So the girl wants to split the tab. Here’s the rule:
the guy tells her once that it’s ok and that he’s got it. If she still insists - you split it.
Why ?
Some girls don’t like the feeling that someone else pays for them - it’s sort of a feminist thing - so go along with that, don’t be an ass and insist on doing something she doesn’t want you to do.
