Calling your date on the phone can be very stressful - not being able to see facial expressions or the awkward silence can get really annoying . But it can also be a lot of fun and a great way to build some more comfort with your date before actually meeting them.
The purpose of your call
Before even picking up the phone - think about what you want to achieve with this phone call ?
Do you want to just set up a first date ?
Do you want to build some more comfort with your date so that maybe she will feel more comfortable with coming to your place ?
Do you simply want to chit chat for a while so that things between you two won’t cool off ?
If you don’t really know than it’s best you go for the standard 10-15 minute talk on the phone in order to build some more comfort and than decide whether you want to set up the date or not.

It’s normally acceptable that the guy calls the girl, although nowadays there’s now problem for the girl to call up the guy as well.
